Response
1. a) What is the purpose of handicapping in sports?
- They use handicapping to stop the higher level athletes from being better than eveyone else.
b) What sports use handicapping?
- all of them use handicapping.
c) Why has handicapping become law in Bergeron's community?
- It is a law because they are trying to make everyone equal.
d) Has the society improved as a result?
-  Im sure in one way society would have improved because no one is better than anyone else, there for no reason to fight about who is better. But if everyone is equal, how do you have romodels? Celebrities? Would life be boring? In this book it seems as though the people are being controlled by the government, they cant even think for themselves.

2.) What parts of the story are most exaggerated? What do you think was the authors purpose in using exaggeration so extensively?
- The author exaggerates the art when Harrison Bergeron takes off his handicap and commandeers the presidents office and tells the world that he will change everything and rule the world. I think he exaggerated it because he wanted to show how out of hand the world would get if the government handicapped people.

3.) What do George's and Hazel's reactions at the end of the story reveal  abut the quality of life in their society?
- It shows how the government is controlling he minds of the people in their society.

4. a) What what is the situational irony in this story? What would you expect a society where everyone is equal to be like?
-  I would expect that in a society where everyone is equal, no one would have anything to fight over. I think the irony in the story is that society isn't more peaceful.
b) What point do you think the author is making through the irony?
- i think the author is trying to make a point by saying that having people that are greater or lesser than everyone else makes for controversy and evens everything out.

Critisism
1. Why do you think the author wrote the text?
- I think he wants to show the readers what the world would be like if we were all the same, if no one was different, and if no one was special.

2. What does the author want you to think?
- He wants us to think about what life would be like. Life would be boring, and eventually people would figure out that they weren't thinking for themselves and tunr on eachother.
3. Do you belong to any of the groups in the text?
- Yes, I think that some people may say they would handicap me for my voice.

4. Does the story remind you of a real life event?
- No. The technology has not been invented yet to physically handicap a person without physically hurting them.
5. Does  the story remind you of another book or movie on a similar topic?
- This book reminds me of "The Incredibles". In this movie one of the characters , Dash, wants to try out for the track team but becasue his power is the power of speed, his mother restricts him from it. In the end of the movie his mum finally decides to let him try out but when he is racing against the other children, his parents are telling him not to win because he could do it easily.
6. How does the story help you think about social issues and social justice?
- People should be able to think however they want o think, and if you are talented you should be bale to flaunt your talent instead of being told it is not okay to be special.

7. What action might you take from what you have lerned?
- I have learnt that it is okay to be talented, and to use my talent to its full extent, and not be embaressed to except peoples compliments, because it is a gift.

8. What big question has this text left you with?
- Do some people pretend not to be good at things so they dont get special attention? Is the government working on the technology to handicap people?
